As a former teacher, the highlight of the student's year was the Halloween parade and party at school. They loved the Halloween activities we did, they loved getting dressed up and they LOVED eating the cupcakes and candy that was brought in for them to eat. I strategically placed this time of eating and fun until the last hour of the day. This way, I could send them home all sugared up and the parents could enjoy. (Their payback was putting candy in their lunchboxes every day until Christmas.) What I wouldn't give for parents to send in an alternative to the sugary snacks and drinks. So this year, let's create more healthy options.
I am teaming up with Acme to offer you some healthy snack alternatives and helping to get you ready for the new Peanuts Movie coming to theaters November 6. When you buy any 3 participating products, you can get one of these Peanuts themed Trick-or-Treat Bags free. All of the snack options are included in the promotion so it's a win-win.
Healthy Snack Option #1 - Honest Kids Juice PouchesJuice pouches are so much more convenient than sending in a jug of juice and cups. The kids can usually put the straw in themselves, depending on the age, and they can keep the juice inside the pouch and not all over themselves and the carpet. We love the Honest Kids pouches because they are organic, GMO free and they contain less sugar than the popular brands.
Healthy Snack Option #2 - Horizon Organics Apple ClustersThese are great snacks to send into the classroom or even give out on Halloween (if you have a smaller group of kids that come around like we do). 4 simple ingredients creates a great snack that is crunchy and sweet.
Healthy Snack Option #3 - Pop Secret PopcornIn my classroom, our class treat would often be popcorn. These kids loved popcorn almost as much as they hated homework. A simple bag of popcorn goes such a long way. These 100 calorie packs are perfectly portioned for a child size snack - so they would even be a great alternative for trick-or-treaters. You can even pop some popcorn and place them inside snack ziploc bags for school treats.
You can find other healthy snack options among the participating brands:
Grab a snack and go Peanutize yourself, watch the trailer or enter the sweepstakes for your chance to win a trip to Snoopy's home in California. And don't forget to go see the Peanuts Movie when it is in theaters November 6th.
